Research in English Studies – Papers in Language, Linguistics, and Literature
This book has two parts, Part I (English language and linguistics) and Part II (English literature). The former explores the role of digital and educational technology in learning and instruction of ESL/EFL, and content subjects in the English Studies program. Technologies in the form of ICT tools such as Kahoot and StoryJumper as well as social media applications like WhatsApp Instant Messenger were researched. There are also chapters on studies on podcasts for linguistic structure and review papers that critically review new developments in language learning skills and learner variables, such as the willingness to communicate. The chapters of English literature focus on post-colonial language use and a wide range of literary works on culture, power, identity, and displacement caused by war and social injustices. Insights into Malaysian culture and how it compares with other cultures in the world from the point of view of language, linguistics, and literature are discussed.
