Vignettes in Immunology Putting Basic Immunology in a Clinical Perspective
Vignettes in Immunology: Putting Basic Immunology in a Clinical Perspective began with Sharmili wanting to make basic immunology lessons more relevant to her medical students. She turned to her friend Mohan, an internal medicine physician subspecialised in dermatology and a long-time fan of immunology who used to tell her ‘immunology is everywhere’. Together, they have written this book, obtaining clinical vignettes from their colleagues and relating the cases to basic immunology principles.
This is not an immunology revision book. It is a book for the curious reader who wants to know how the structure of the T cell receptor relates to cancer therapy (Chapter 3), how synthetic antibodies are used in the therapy of inflammatory conditions; Chapter 8) or how different types of hypersensitivities affect patient management (Chapter 5). Consider this a book that you dip in and out of – for the pursuit of immunology.
